I am 29 years old, an author on the side and a counsellor by profession. I work as a mental health practitioner in the NHS (specifically children and adolescents), I am also a freelance mental health mentor for uni students.
BSc Psychology and health studies. MSc counselling.
But enough of that. All of that is secondary because this is not a lecture.
This blog came out of my personal experiences. As a British Asian girl brought up in a 'broken home'. As an ordinary person who has first hand experience of living through abuse and trauma. As a daughter and sister who cared for family members who were physically and mentally ill.
As a visitor here, you are part of a supportive, therapeutic community. But who says therapy and the recovery process has to all be about CBT and talk therapy (not to say they are not helpful!) Better mental health is so much more than that but I'm not just going to tell you, I hope to show you and inspire you.
I used many mediums as a form of escapism: reading, art, journalling, writing. I have two published fantasy books: The Sickness and Dark Destiny. Everyone will have their own way of doing things and you may not agree with a lot of what I may write about but I welcome everyone on this journey with me.
Thank you so much for being part of this community. There are plenty of ways that you can become more involved and also allow me to support you, by leaving messages and comments so I can cater my content to what you really need. Yes, need. Because taking care of yourself and acknowledging that you just need that supporter to cheer you on in life is essential to living.
